As Hamlet said to Ophelia (Act 3, Scene 1) "Get Thee to a Colonoscopy"....
I want to remind you all to PLEASE go get a colonoscopy if you are:
1. over 50 or
2. if you have any symptoms or
3. if you have a history of cancer in your family.
With early detection, colon cancer is highly treatable, even “curable”.
So, please take this opportunity to share this reminder with any friends or family who might have any reason to suspect an issue or are over 50. A colonoscopy is really a breeze of a procedure and the downside of not catching colon cancer early is significant...
Again to quote Hamlet (Act 5, Scene 1) "Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him well, Horatio...colon cancer, 'tis the second leading cancer killer for both Ladies and Gentlemen...."

I'm going, I'm going!!!!!
I got my colonoscopy scheduled. For whatever reason I have to wait three months. I'm having it in February.
It's hard to realize that, no matter how young you feel, you have to take an active role in keeping yourself healthy. And when you don't find anything you may think that you have done your job and don't repeat the tests. But we each have to keep ourselves up to date for many diseases. I think the prep is the worst of it all, and having a virtual colonoscopy doesn't take away that prep.
Brian,
We finally got around to getting on your blog. It's tremendous what your doing. Keep it up. We wish
you our very best, as you know. Sorry, no quotes from Shakespeare yet. Maybe later after some research. What do you expect from an engineer?

I had one and it wasn't bad. I was freaked about the liquid diet. I found a "low residue" diet on the internet and my doc approved it - even though his office staff initially said no way. And the liquid (can't remember the name) mixed with cold Fresca goes down easily. Don't be afraid to ask for an alternate prep procedure to make it go easier.
I've had many colonoscopys. The drugs are much better these days. As I said to the xray tech the other day, "I'd rather have a colonoscopy than a mamography!" A joy you get to miss...THANK GOD for small favors right! Thanks for keeping us all informed about the process...stay strong.
Had one but the sleep doctor didn't really do his job correctly, I tried to sleep but without the drugs I jumped (to put it lightly) so I freaked out the nurse and the other doctor started yelling. In any case I'm glad I jumped and had the colonoscopy.
I just set up my blog photo (happens to be from my 50th birthday party), which Brian unfortunately missed due to colon operation.
I'll call the doctor next week!
Any good tips or preferred providers?
